Early Signs Of Developing Diabetes

Diabetes is considered as a metabolic disease that is characterized by elevated blood sugar levels. There are two types of diabetes that can affect people. Type 1 diabetes is characterized by the inability of the pancreas to produce enough insulin to process the glucose in the blood stream. Type 2 diabetes is a result of the failure of cells in the body to respond to insulin, which is also referred to as insulin resistance.

Diabetes is also known as the silent killer as the condition exhibit early warning symptoms that most people may find harmless or something that they should not be concerned about. Some only realize too late when the disease has already worsened. It is important that people know about the early warning signs of diabetes in order to get treatment before things get even worse. Here are some signs to look out for.

Frequent and/or excessive urination

If you experience frequent urination especially during your sleeping schedule, then you should consider it as a sign of developing diabetes. It also coincides with having an abnormal volume of urine as well. This is due to the high glucose levels in the blood results in the kidneys not being able to reabsorb all of them for the body to use, ending up in urine. The excess glucose in the urine then draws more water from the body, thereby increasing urine volume further.

Constant thirst

Diabetics also feel like they are thirsty all the time, even though they drink water frequently. This is due to the increasing frequency of urination that they experience, which can leave them dehydrated. This causes diabetics to feel thirsty all the time.

Unexplained weight loss

Although diabetes can be associated with obesity, it can also lead to unexplained weight loss. One reason may be due to excess water loss brought about by the condition. Another reason might be because the body cannot use up calories for energy as a result of excess blood glucose levels.
